Saving Money with Used Tools

Everyone owns and uses tools of some type at some point. It may just be the basic screwdriver and pliers in the kitchen drawer, or highly specialized tool sets of a professional in their given trade. The cost of such tools can range from fairly inexpensive to many hundreds of dollars. Some may be readily available while other unique tools may be more difficult to find.

Personal Electronics – Then & Now

Today, we live in the digital age of iPads, tablet computers and smart phones. Local device storage of media has given way to streaming services, with immense libraries of content available anywhere with one touch of your screen.

Getting Money for Items of Value

We’ve all heard the idiom “one man's trash is another man's treasure”, and it’s certainly an accurate statement. We can take it a step further and say that some things you once saw as treasure can end up being trash, so to speak. Back in the college days, you bought that brand new stereo system much to the envy of all your friends. It was replete with a dual-cassette unit and even a turntable, paving the way to production of endless ‘road-trip’ tapes. With a two channel amplifier and speakers the size of an average refrigerator, you were styling with the latest and the greatest. But times have changed.

The Pawn Process

“Pawning” is a process in which you bring an item into the pawn shop in exchange for a cash loan. For example, you might pawn a gold wedding ring as collateral for a $250 loan.  If you repay the loan by a predetermined date, you can retrieve your gold ring. The loan repayment amount will include interest and fees that are typically regulated by the state. You also have the option to extend the repayment time frame, although this will incur continuing interest. If you fail to repay the money on time, the pawn shop takes ownership of the ring and can offer it for resale.

Scrap Jewelry

If you’ve ever accidentally left your gold bracelet in a pocket and unknowingly sent it through the washing machine, you are not alone. After such an unfortunate series of events, the bracelet may be clean, but had definitely seen better days.  It has been in your dresser drawer since then – perhaps waiting for the day when you might attempt to have it repaired.  Although this might fit the definition of ‘scrap’ jewelry, the fact that it is made of gold makes it valuable.  So what is the opportunity cost?  You could sell us the bracelet for cash, or let it continue to gather dust while anticipating a potential future restoration for which you will have to spend money.

Power Tools

Brand new power tools are expensive!  An average power tool can easily cost hundred of dollars or more. Mechanics, construction workers, handymen, and even the typical homeowner employ a variety of power tools on a regular basis. Metro Pawn & Gun offers an alternative to these steep prices while maintaining the functionality that many trades rely on for their livelihood.

Extra Cash When You Need It

The old saying “one man's trash is another man's treasure” can apply to many things, and selling your items at a pawn shop is definitely one of them. We can take it a step further and say that some things you once saw as treasure can end up being trash, so to speak. Back in the college days, you may have had the most awesome stereo on the block, complete with a dual-cassette deck, turntable and speakers the size of an average refrigerator. It is on this state-of-the-art system (of its day) that you recorded those quintessential ‘mix tapes which made you the life of the party. But oh how times have changed.

Merry Christmas From Metro Pawn & Gun!

‘Tis the Season!

If any of the drains in your home seem to clog repeatedly, that’s not normal, and you need to investigate why it’s happening. Generally, when household drains seem like they’re always slow or totally clogged, it’s because household members repeatedly allow things to flow into the drains that don’t belong there. Damaged plumbing can be a culprit, too, but more often than not, the problem is caused by user neglect.
