Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all! Hopefully 2021 will be a good year for everyone. This last year brought us its share of drama, including a pandemic, lockdowns, civil unrest, economic hardships and consumer product shortages to name a few. Many aspects of normal life simply got “cancelled”. Zoom meetings have replaced traditional gatherings, academics are conducted remotely, stores have more traffic signage than our highways, and now we only get to see people’s eyes out in public. Remember the mad run on toilet paper, or unscrupulous folks price-gouging on hand sanitizer? Still waiting for a second round of stimulus checks, only 8 months after the first payments? And most of us still can’t find ammunition today… It has to get better, right? We don’t know about you, but we’re ready to say goodbye to 2020 and a hopeful hello to 2021!

Getting ready for winter

Minnesota is a place where winter might not really get going until January or February, but we might also get buried in early November. Our temperatures can be pretty mild, or we can plunge into sub-zero weather for weeks at a time. The Twin Cities and surrounding areas are no stranger to an abundance of snow and ice, so getting ready before the winter wonderland arrives is wise.

Prepping: Smart or Not?

The year 2020 has certainly accentuated one fact – normal life can be very suddenly and significantly disrupted. With little warning, we went from ordinary, relatively uneventful daily routines to unprecedented lockdowns in the face of a global pandemic. Everyday activities such as shopping, going to the movies, getting a haircut or taking the family out to eat either ceased entirely or became rather complicated. Social distancing, face masks, curbside pickups, directional arrows on floors and Zoom meetings became a part of our lexicon.

Audio and Video Entertainment Today

A quality home entertainment system should emulate listening to live music or enjoying a movie at the theater as accurately as possible in the privacy of your own home. This can be as simple as a stereo receiver and a pair of speakers in your living room or as elaborate as a custom home theater comprised of surround sound decoding equipment, amplification, sources, speakers and a high definition display of your choice. Depending on your performance expectations, this could be accomplished with or without breaking the bank.

Supporting Local Business

The negative economic impact resulting from events that have transpired within the last six months has been tremendous. An unprecedented closure of the economy has caused irreparable harm to small businesses across the country, forcing many to shutter their doors for good. Unemployment rose higher in three months of COVID-19 than it did in two years of the Great Recession. Yet despite the pandemic, Amazon doubled its net profit year over year to $5.2 billion, compared to $2.6 billion at this time in 2019. So what’s wrong with this picture?

Business as usual?

With the trials and tribulations of COVID-19 and the recent social unrest that has gripped the country over the last few months, is there any way that business as usual can once again return? What will be our new normal? When will we be able to head out to a ball game with our friends and families? Will the smile and firm handshake at a business meeting once again seal the deal? Can we count on being able to celebrate our faith in houses of worship without having to follow social distancing circles and arrows on the floor? How will our children learn and experience our nation’s history when parts of that history have been torn down, providing they even return to classes in the fall?

Why should you own a Shotgun?

If you had to own just ONE firearm, what would it be? Many people who know their firearms would likely say that it should be a shotgun. A shotgun is a firearm typically designed to be fired from the shoulder, which uses a fixed shell to fire a number of small spherical pellets called shot, or a solid projectile called a slug. Shotguns come in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from a .22 inch bore up to a 2.0 inch bore, also identified by “gauge”, such as 20 gauge, 12 gauge, 10 gauge and so forth. Shotguns utilize a range of firearm operating mechanisms, including breech loading, single or double-barreled, pump-action, bolt, lever-action, semi-automatic, and even fully automatic variants.

Reopening America

Uncertainty has truly become the new normal. When the COVID crisis took hold in the US, the first order of business was to stop the spread. Various mitigation efforts ensued, and terms such as ‘social distancing’ became household words. The shutdown of non-essential businesses and public venues followed, and altered policies for those that remained running in some capacity were implemented.
