Getting Money for Items of Value

We’ve all heard the idiom “one man's trash is another man's treasure”, and it’s certainly an accurate statement. We can take it a step further and say that some things you once saw as treasure can end up being trash, so to speak. Back in the college days, you bought that brand new stereo system much to the envy of all your friends. It was replete with a dual-cassette unit and even a turntable, paving the way to production of endless ‘road-trip’ tapes. With a two channel amplifier and speakers the size of an average refrigerator, you were styling with the latest and the greatest. But times have changed.

Buying Jewelry at a Pawn Shop

Consumer buying knowledge today is at an all-time high. With our capacity to instantly research any given topic or search for the best deal using the Internet, we are able to make informed purchasing decisions without so much as leaving the counter in a place of business. Virtually infinite information is available at the touch of a button or voice prompt on our smartphones and tablets.

The Benefits of Used Jewelry

If you are shopping for an engagement ring or perhaps looking to reward yourself by investing in a fancy watch, Metro Pawn and Gun carries a great selection of used jewelry at amazing prices. We offer gold, silver and platinum rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and more. Some are simple and made of precious metals; others are embellished with gemstones and elaborate designs. One thing is certain - our selection has something for everyone, for every occasion.

Scrap Jewelry

If you’ve ever accidentally left your gold bracelet in a pocket and unknowingly sent it through the washing machine, you are not alone. After such an unfortunate series of events, the bracelet may be clean, but had definitely seen better days.  It has been in your dresser drawer since then – perhaps waiting for the day when you might attempt to have it repaired.  Although this might fit the definition of ‘scrap’ jewelry, the fact that it is made of gold makes it valuable.  So what is the opportunity cost?  You could sell us the bracelet for cash, or let it continue to gather dust while anticipating a potential future restoration for which you will have to spend money.

Precious Metals in 2020

Looking at the past year, we continue to see appreciation of precious metals across the board. Within the past 12 months, gold went from a low of $1270 per ounce to $1574 per ounce currently. Silver experienced its lowest price of the past year at $14.34 per ounce to its highest of $19.57 per ounce. Platinum soared from around $785 per ounce in January of 2019 to around $1015 per ounce in January of 2020.

Things to Consider When Pawning Your Gold

Pawn shops can provide loans for your items, or purchase them outright. It all depends on whether you wish to retrieve your item at a later date, or just want to get rid of it altogether

Why Visiting a Pawn Shop is like going on a Great Treasure Hunt

While many people may not think of a trip to the local Pawn Shop as exciting, these shops are a goldmine for the treasure hunter in all of us. Pawn shops have been around for thousands of years, the first shops originating in China. Their original purpose was, and remains, a way for people to turn their possessions into cash either by selling them outright, or " Pawning" them. This means getting a loan based on the value of the item.

Merry Christmas at Metro Pawn!

With the holiday season upon us, giving (and receiving) gifts is part of the cheer during this time of the year. No matter the winter blues, the inconvenient blizzards and the frosty car windows – a cup of steaming hot chocolate and classic holiday movies with the family makes everything right.

Why Buy Old or Used Jewelry?

When some people shop for an engagement ring or other adornment, they feel compelled to visit the most reputable jewelry store they can find, and often just accept the fact that they will be paying a premium for their purchase. But this doesn’t always have to break the bank. Everything we purchase is thoroughly evaluated on condition and value, thus ensuring that you will be pleased with your purchase. You get the quality and reputation of a five star jeweler, without the top shelf price!

Should You Visit The Coin Shop Or The Pawn Shop?

We here at Metro Pawn & Gun are big fans of collectible coins, coins made of precious metals, and other rare coins and currencies. Coins from around the world and throughout the ages are not only valuable, but each one carries along its own little cross-section of history! Can you imagine where a WWII Nickel may have been?
