Get a Head-Start on Winter

While it’s still nice outside for the most part, fall is definitely upon us. Leaves are changing, the days are noticeable shorter, and the temperatures are much cooler.

Snow Blowers at Metro Pawn & Gun

So far, we have only seen a thin layer of morning frost and maybe a few snowflakes here in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas – neither of which amounted to anything. But winter is a long way from over, and just because we are not buried in two feet of snow does not mean we are out of the woods.

Winter is Coming

Summer in Minnesota can be delightful, with beautiful scenery, many outdoor activities and generally great weather. But as night follows day, winter usually comes upon us quickly and with little ceremony. Soon enough we’ll be driving past festive Christmas decorations in snow-covered neighborhoods, shoveling our vehicles out of their parking spots, and slipping along icy roads during our daily commutes. Winter is a welcomed season for skiers, snowmobilers and other aficionados of such outdoor activities, but perhaps less enjoyable for those of us who need to dig ourselves out of our driveways before we can get to work.

Getting ready for winter

Minnesota is a place where winter might not really get going until January or February, but we might also get buried in early November. Our temperatures can be pretty mild, or we can plunge into sub-zero weather for weeks at a time. The Twin Cities and surrounding areas are no stranger to an abundance of snow and ice, so getting ready before the winter wonderland arrives is wise.

Snowed in? Come see us!

People living in Minnesota are generally used to winter. We are used to snow and ice and bitter cold temperatures. We can drive in blizzards and still get to work on time. We love our snow mobiles and other winter sports, and the weather doesn’t usually crimp our style. We bundle up and carry on.

Preparing for Winter

Living in Minnesota has many advantages – beautiful scenery, many outdoor activities and a wonderful summer climate. But then there is winter – a welcomed season for skiers and snowmobilers, but also a bear for managing snow, ice and the typical winter commute. It’s not unusual to get pummeled by a fast moving blizzard between the times you go to sleep and when you awaken, leaving your driveway and roads buried in snow. While an armada of snow plows sets out to clear the roads in the wee hours of the morning, you still have to unearth your vehicle and clear a path to that road.
