Being able to defend your family within your home in the worst case scenario such as armed robbery or home invasion is critical. The hope is to never find yourself or your loved ones in such a situation, but if you do, are you prepared?

The Second Amendment

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed..." - Thomas Jefferson

These carefully crafted words define the natural rights of American citizenry to self-defense and resistance to oppression, internal or external, and the civic duty to act in the defense of the state should that become necessary.

Buying a Rifle – So Many Choices…..

The word "rifle" originally referred to the pattern of grooves called ‘rifling’ cut into the inside of the barrel. Rifles are used in warfare, defensive operations, hunting and shooting sports. At Metro Pawn and Gun we stock a large variety of rifles, including bolt action rifles, semi-automatic rifles, sporting rifles and collectible or antique rifles.

The History and Collectability of Antique Firearms

We often hear old firearms referred to as ‘antique’ or ‘collectible,’ and these words are generally used to describe a firearm, including any firearm with a matchlock, flintlock, percussion cap, or similar type of ignition system, manufactured in or before 1898. Such pieces are highly sought by collectors and shooters, and we come across some very interesting antique firearms at Metro Pawn & Gun.

Taking Care of the Goods: Five Collectible Cleaning Tips

Historic firearms require a certain degree of care to stay functional. If you want to preserve your collectible, you’ll need to make sure you’re doing a few things correctly. That said, it’s a good idea to stay away from traditionally effective cleaning methods. What may work on regular firearms can corrode or cause damage to your collectible. Historical Guns: How to Detect Fakes

When collecting antique guns, one of the major issues that you'll encounter is how to detect a fake. Detecting a fake antique gun can be a challenge, as they tend to be fairly rare, and thus there's often very little to compare them to. For the most part, you'll have to rely upon the condition of materials themselves and the build of the gun.

AK vs AR?

The AK-47 is a selective-fire, gas-operated 7.62×39 mm rifle developed in the Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov. Design and development began in 1945 and in 1948, the rifle entered service with select units of the Soviet Army. In early 1949, it was fully adopted by all Soviet Armed Forces as well as most members of the Warsaw Pact. Even after almost 70 years, the AK and its many variants are still the most prolific rifles in the world. Their fame is due in part to their unwavering reliability in virtually any conditions, low manufacturing cost and ease of operation. It is estimated that one fifth of all firearms in use in the world today belong to the Kalashnikov family.
